We are pleased to announce an exclusive exhibition at +81 Gallery featuring the works of Katsumi Asaba, a leading figure in Japanese graphic design who has pioneered numerous designs centered around typography. This exhibition showcases a curated selection of over 100 pieces inspired by BAUHAUS, a legendary art school in Germany, that Asaba has continuously created throughout his career. Asaba’s unwavering passion for typography and his ability to infuse design with vitality have resulted in iconic works such as the Seibu Department Store’s advertising campaign “Delicious Life,” featuring the renowned filmmaker Woody Allen, and the logo for ISSEY MIYAKE, among others, leaving a vivid impression on people worldwide. In this exhibition, we gather works that epitomize Asaba’s design philosophy, particularly those that express the essence of BAUHAUS as corporate advertisements for Misawa Bauhaus. Visitors will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in a space that embodies the fusion of Asaba’s design ethos and the tradition of BAUHAUS, providing a unique insight into the intersection of contemporary Japanese design and the timeless legacy of BAUHAUS.
